Alexander Zachary Jewelers Owner Bill Thunberg Announces Store Closing After 30 Years in Downtown Mooresville

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – (October 6, 2025) – Visit Mooresville, the destination marketing organization for the Town of Mooresville, has announced the purchase of two buildings in downtown Mooresville on North Main Street that will become the new home of the Mooresville Travel and Tourism Authority.

The newly acquired properties, located at 169 and 175 North Main Street, will serve as the future Visit Mooresville Visitor Center and administrative offices. This investment underscores Visit Mooresville’s commitment to downtown revitalization and to enhancing the visitor experience for those exploring the community.

The announcement coincides with news from Bill Thunberg, owner of Alexander Zachary Jewelers, who has announced that his long-standing jewelry store at 175 North Main Street will close at the end of November.

“Alexander Zachary Jewelers celebrated its 30th anniversary on September 1, 2025,” said Bill Thunberg. “It has been a joy for me to engage with all the wonderful people in the community over those 30 years. It was a difficult decision to sell our building, but we are grateful for Visit Mooresville’s long-term commitment to downtown Mooresville.”

Renovations on the two buildings are expected to begin in the first half of 2026. Once complete, the space will feature an experiential visitor center designed to tell the story of Mooresville through interactive exhibits and digital displays, as well as serve as an information hub for visitors and residents alike.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Visit Mooresville,” said Randy DuTeau, executive director of Visit Mooresville. “We look forward to creating a dynamic space downtown to serve the needs of our visitors and our community and to telling the story and promoting all the great assets of Mooresville. We are honored that Mr. Thunberg was willing to sell this building to us, and we promise to be great stewards of this space and of our new downtown location.”
