Welcome Executive Director Randy DuTeau!

The Mooresville Convention & Visitors Bureau welcomes our new executive director, Randy DuTeau. He joins us at the start of 2024 as we emerge into the Town of Mooresville’s 151st year. Randy DuTeau has served in tourism, event management, and hospitality for 30+ years. The first time Randy and his wife, Chele, visited Mooresville was when their son attended a club lacrosse tournament at Mazeppa Park. Afterward, they celebrated at Barcelona Burger and Beer Garden.

“We had a great experience, and it was a nice community,” DuTeau said. He remembered that Mooresville was a standout town from others they had visited. Randy has overseen destination marketing organizations, development for sports commissions, and high-profile sports events, including Ironman 70.3 Augusta, USA Cycling National Championships, and Amateur Athletic Union Cross Country National Championships. He worked at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as managed a former Olympic venue.

Cycling became Randy’s passion at an early age. “I saw the movie Breaking Away (1979) and later got a 10-speed bike for my 15th birthday. That movie inspired me to get into bike racing,” he said. Randy credits cycling as being a direct part of navigating his career path, leading him to host national events where he learned about sports tourism and destination marketing.

Though he has only been in the Town of Mooresville as a resident and head of the CVB for a few weeks, DuTeau said, “I am impressed by the enthusiastic welcome I’ve received from everyone. There is an infectious vibrancy about the community partners I’ve met that is inspiring. I’m honored and humbled to have been invited to the team and look forward to utilizing my skills and talents to promote the Town of Mooresville.”

Randy holds a BS degree from Georgia State University. He is originally from Atlanta and spent the past few decades in Augusta, Georgia. He and Chele will celebrate 24 years of marriage this fall and have a daughter, Madeline, who is in grad school. Their son, Ian, will graduate this year from his high school in Augusta.

“Being fully immersed here, living here, and getting to know people on a closer level are what’s going to help me be able to tell the Mooresville story best,” he added.
Welcome, Randy DuTeau and family to the Town of Mooresville, North Carolina!
