What To Know Before You Go Pumpkin Picking

Planning a pumpkin-picking adventure? Be sure to book your spot online ahead of time. Pumpkin picking is a hot ticket, especially on weekends, so you’ll want to secure your spot early. To avoid crowds, especially on weekends, plan to arrive early. Weekdays are usually less busy. Because the pumpkin picking requires timed entries, your experience will be alongside others who have booked the same time frame. The visit to and from the pumpkin patch will take about an hour in total. Be sure to arrive 15 minutes early to check in and get a good spot on the tractor! The tractor ride will be your guide throughout the experience.

It’s crucial to bring cash! While you’ll pay a deposit online, everything else at the farm is cash only. Make sure to bring enough to cover your admission cost as well as any food, drinks, or farm goodies at the end of your visit!

Carrigan Farms is a working farm, so be prepared for a rustic environment! This means you might encounter uneven terrain or muddy patches. It’s best to wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes. Closed-toe shoes or boots are strongly recommended. And while not mandatory, it’s smart to bring your pumpkin-picking tools. Gardening gloves and a pocket knife will come in handy when cutting your pumpkin from the vine. The vines can be very prickly! Along with your patch-proof tools and clothes, you won’t want to forget the camera! Whether you’re a photo pro or an Instagram husband, there are so many photo ops during your visit.

Tractor Rides, Farm Animals, and Pumpkin Picking at Carrigan Farms

Once you arrive, you’ll be directed to a parking area. After checking in and paying the remaining entry fee, hop on a tractor for a scenic ride through the farm. Before heading to the pumpkin patch, the tractor ride will take you to the petting zoo for a quick, fun visit. Here, you can feed the animals hay and get up close to some friendly farm friends!

Now, for the fun part: pumpkin picking! Explore the fields and find the perfect pumpkin to take home. Each paying visitor gets one pumpkin per admission. Pick a pumpkin as small or large as you wish – as long as you can carry it!

After everyone has picked their pumpkin, the tractor will take you back to the front of the farm, where you can purchase fall-themed treats and souvenirs. Get an apple cider doughnut or slushy. It’s the perfect way to end your pumpkin picking experience!
