Lake surfing works thanks to specialty boats that create a rideable wave behind them—specifically, MasterCraft boats with specialized inboard ballast and surf systems. It’s safe (no propellers near you), clean, and surprisingly easy to pick up. You don’t need to be athletic! You need someone to teach you, and thankfully, Ride Wake & Surf has that part locked down.

The Full Surf Experience on Lake Norman
Booking is simple and flexible: you rent the boat by the hour, not per person. That means your whole group can try surfing, tubing, cruising, or just hanging out on the water—no added fees. How long you book for is up to you! We would recommend about an hour per person for a booked session so that everyone can have plenty of time to surf the waves and chill on the boat for the perfect lake day. Sessions are led by licensed U.S. Coast Guard captains and professional instructors who tailor every ride to your comfort and skill level. Visitors can expect premium gear (Soulcraft surfboards, Liquid Force wake gear), high-energy encouragement, and a setting that makes everything more fun—sunny skies, warm water, and the freedom to surf your own wave.
